I gave this exam myself, so these numbers are from my own experience. Most of the things people worry about in this exam are not true.

Time is not the problem in this exam. You get 3 hours for 100 questions, so nobody runs out of time. What matters is whether you have already seen that type of question before.
That is why reading the slides again and again does not help much in the last few days. Solving the questions does. I learnt this myself, with only 4 days left.

Formulating a research question
Which of the following verbs is preferably used in the statement of objectives of an analytical research study?
Answer: B.
Verb tells you the type of study. ANALYTICAL objectives use comparison verbs: determine, compare, evaluate, examine, assess the association.
DESCRIPTIVE objectives use estimate, describe, measure, document.
'Study' is vague and never acceptable in an objective because it is not measurable.

CRITICAL APPRAISAL is the systematic application of principles of analysis to judge whether a study is valid, unbiased and relevant before you use its findings.
Information seeking = finding potentially useful articles; information retrieval = pulling out the relevant subset from a database; systematic review = a full research method with a protocol.

What is appropriate for sample and sample size?
Answer: C.
A sample must satisfy TWO separate requirements, and they are not interchangeable.
Representativeness → the sample mirrors the target population, which gives EXTERNAL validity (generalisability).
Adequacy → enough participants to give the study POWER to detect a true difference, i.e. precision and meaningful inference.
A large but unrepresentative sample and a representative but tiny sample are both useless, so both 'a' and 'b' are needed.

I checked all 690 answers
20 official answers are wrong as per standard books. The Qbank still marks the answer the exam expects, and a note explains the correct concept. 5 more were wrong in the PDF, so I corrected them.
What I can’t promise

Common questions
What is the BCBR exam?
BCBR is the Basic Course in Biomedical Research. It is run by ICMR through the National Institute of Epidemiology (NIE). It is compulsory for many medical professionals in India, and it ends with an online proctored exam at an exam centre.
How many questions are in the exam and what is the pass mark?
100 questions in 180 minutes, and you need 50 to pass. There is no negative marking, so never leave any question blank.
Are these previous BCBR question papers, or the actual exam questions?
These are PYQs: 690 questions that students recalled after their BCBR exams, each with its answer and an explanation. They are not official question papers from ICMR, and I can't say which questions will come in your exam.
Do the BCBR questions come with answers and explanations?
Yes. All 690 BCBR questions come with the answer and an explanation of why it is right and why the other options are wrong. The 150 questions of the first 5 lectures are free, explanations included.
Are the BCBR answer keys correct?
I checked all 690 answers myself. 20 official answers are wrong as per standard books. The Qbank still marks the answer the exam expects, and a note explains the correct concept. 5 more were wrong in the PDF, so I corrected them.
How is this different from a free BCBR PDF?
A free PDF gives you only the answer. BCBR Buddy tells you why that answer is right and why the other options are wrong, for all 690 questions.
The PDFs also have some wrong answers. I corrected 5 of them, and for 20 more I added a note where the exam's answer is different from the books. The app also keeps your wrong answers in one place, so you can redo only those.
How much of it is free?

Is this a subscription?
No. You pay once for a fixed number of days, and nothing renews automatically. Your card is never saved. Most of us give BCBR only once, so a subscription makes no sense.
Does it work offline?
