How I prepared for the BCBR exam
The BCBR was a big headache for me. I had not given the exam during the first year of my residency, and by second year most of my co-PGs had already given it. So it was constantly hitting me: I have to give it, I have to give it.
Finally I registered. And as usual, like most of you, I had done nothing until there were four or five days left.
What did not work
My co-PGs and I started searching and asking around: what to read, and where to read it from. I came across three or four different PDFs. The problem was that I could not concentrate while reading them. It was not going into my brain at all.
So I decided to solve the MCQs instead. But there too, every PDF had direct answers and no explanations.
Then I searched online and found some apps charging ₹200 to ₹400. My exam was a few days away, and I thought it was not worth it.
Why I built BCBR Buddy
So I decided to build something for the BCBR exam myself: a question bank made from questions recalled from previous exams, with an explanation for every answer. I sat the paper with it, and I passed.
Because I prepared for this exam myself, I know almost everyone is going to study for it for a week or so. That is why I brought the one-week pass at only ₹99, and it is the most bought plan on BCBR Buddy.
That is the story behind BCBR Buddy. There is more about how it was checked on the about page.
If you are where I was
- Know the paper first: the exam pattern — 100 questions, 3 hours, pass mark 50, no negative marking.
- Read the revision notes; lectures 1–5 are free.
- Then practise the questions, starting with the 150 free ones.
